Maria Gorman is a criminal defense attorney representing clients with open criminal cases. Having lived in NYC all her life, Maria understands the struggles of the New York criminal legal system and dealing with an overzealous Police Departments. Maria’s passion for representing defendants comes from her own personal experiences as a teenager when she dealt with her criminal case and understands how an open criminal case can be one of the most stressful life events that one can endure.  

Prior to joining Montaño Law Group, P.C., Maria has worked the last 3 years as a public defender representing indigent clients in Queens Criminal Court and Nassau District Court. She has handled a variety of misdemeanor and felony charges. Maria will fight for you every step of the way, whether that means obtaining an outright dismissal or negotiating a very serious felony down to a violation plea that will get a client released from jail. Maria will represent you from arraignment and all the way through trial. Maria has an excellent record of getting clients released from jail without monetary bail being set, even on felony cases.  

Maria has a proven track record of great results. During hearings, Maria has gotten entire confessions excluded from trial; through motions, Maria has gotten very serious DWI charges dismissed based on discovery and speedy trial violations. Maria has prevented felony charges from being indicted by preparing clients to testify in the grand jury and evaluating the worth of a case. Maria will also represent you in the collateral consequences of your arrest, such as at the OATH Hearing if your TLC license is suspended due to an open criminal case, or at the DMV Refusal Hearing if your driver’s license is suspended due to an open DWI case.
